Another Awesone Week in the Mission Field

This past week was great. On Sunday we baptized a 68 year old man named, Jaime. He has had all kinds of life experience and to be teaching him felt strange. It’s the kind of situation where you would expect to be learning instead of teaching. It’s great to see someone, with so much life experience still accept and desire to follow the restored gospel. Other than that, things are just getting better and better. Finally we are encountering people that are willing to set dates to be baptized and understand our message. The work is just so much better when it is actually moving. So, today Elder Farias arrived. It’s great to have a new companion because it means change in the method of work, which means a change in the results. This transfer I really hope to work more and more with the members to find the people that already have lots of friends in the church (maybe relatives too). Already it’s looking like we are going to baptize a young man that has several friends in the church, and a grandmother that was a member of the church that passed away. He actually has interest and is excited to be baptized. Best of all, the member work with him too, not just us. In my eyes that is what I want to happen here. I don’t want to be the only one working with our investigators. Lots of times people give us referrals to people that they know and just expect us to go there like we were knocking the door for the first time. Instead I want to have the members get involved. I would like them to invite the member over to have a snack and chat with us, to break the ice and really make the situation more comfortable and a lot less formal. I want the members to be a part of the conversion, it would be better for the member and the investigator. Now I just have to figure out how to make that happen.
